A total of twelve meritorious students from different departments under the Faculty of Pharmacy of Dhaka University (DU) have been given ‘Dean’s Award’ for their excellent academic results in ‘B. Pharm. Professional Examinations’ of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman distributed the awards among the students at a function held today March 21, 2023 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar presided over the function while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Emeritus Professor Dr. A K Azad Chowdhury addressed it as special guests. Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Firoj Ahmed delivered welcome speech.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman urged the brilliant students to play an effective role to promote health care sector as well as pharmaceutical industry of the country. He stressed the need for strengthening cooperation between industry and academia for overall development of our socio-economic condition. He emphasized on advanced level researches and technological innovations through proper utilization of scientific knowledge. The VC called upon all to make Bangladesh a developed country by using opportunities of fourth industrial revolution properly.

The recipients of Dean’s Awards are Faria Tasneem, Mokaddas Flora Ananta, Faisal Abdullah Emon, Nazifa Tabassum, Md. Sabbir Hossain, Saimon Shahriar, Rashmia Nargis Reyda, Kazi Milenur Rahman Prattay, Asef Raj, Ahad Chowdhury, Sadia Tasnim Mina and Nusrat Jahan Shawon.

It may be mentioned that some other students of the same faculty have also been given Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society Gold Medal, Kathashilpi Sarder Jainuddin Medal and Badrunnesa Gafur Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship.
