Dr. Pascariu is a recognized actuary and expert in biometric risk modeling with a proven track record in health sciences and mathematical modeling both in the private sector and academia. He obtained his PhD in Health Sciences and Epidemiology from the University of Southern Denmark with the European Doctoral School of Demography. As an actuary, he has worked in leading insurance companies in Romania, France, and Switzerland since 2009. Currently, he is working as a senior life actuary at Allianz Suisse in Zurich, Switzerland, and holds an honorary position of Senior Lecturer at the School of Demography of the Australian National University. Besides developing novel methodology in mortality modeling and forecasting, Dr. Pascariu is an active data scientist responsible for developing and maintaining multiple R packages, which are also accessible online. Additionally, Dr. Pascariu contributed to the last World Population Prospect with the Population Division of the United Nations.
