A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society was signed today December 22, 2022 at DU VC Lounge. Another MoU between DU Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies and Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh was also signed today at the same place. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as chief guest on this occasion.

DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Secretary General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Sultan Ahmed and Country Director of Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh Khabirul Haque Kamal signed the MoUs on behalf of their respective institution.

DU Registrar Prabir Kumar Sarkar and Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Dr. Dilara Jahid were present there.

According to the MoU, Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh will conduct researches on disaster management and climate change issues. Besides, graduates of the Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies will get fellowship from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to equip themselves with knowledge regarding disaster management.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked all concerned for signing these MoUs. He said that teachers and students of the Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies would get an opportunity to involve themselves with the activities of disaster management. These MoUs will also help in achieving SDGs, he hoped.
