A four-day long international scientific conference on “Centennial Celebration of Bose-Einstein Statistics: A Legacy of Dhaka” has begun today November 7, 2024 in Dhaka. Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. The Department of Physics and Bose Center for Advanced Study & Research in Natural Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) has organized this event.
Education Advisor Prof. Wahiduddin Mahmud and Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan addressed the inaugural session as special guests. Prof. Partha Ghose of SNBNCBS, India also addressed it. Conference Organizing Secretary Prof. Md. Kamrul Hassan delivered welcome speech while Convener Prof. Supriya Saha gave vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Khandker Saadat Hossain of DU Physics Department conducted the program.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury were present on this occasion.
Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus urged the students and teachers to come forward in contributing to advancement of science and knowledge. He stressed the need for capacity building for contributing to world-science through research maintaining high expectation. The environment of Bose's invention in 1924 was created in such a way, he said. This environment will also be established in the same way today. There is no alternative to this, he added. Prof. Yunus said, the interim government is ready to bring necessary reforms in shaping suitable environment for science practice but demands and suggestions must have to come from all the people concerned.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan urged the academicians, professionals and scientists to conduct advanced level scientific research to make Bangladesh a developed country. The Vice chancellor said, Prof. Satyendra Nath Bose had made us proud by his outstanding research work. He urged all academicians and researchers of the country to share innovative idea and knowledge with foreign scientists for achieving more success in scientific research. This international conference will create a common platform for researchers and scholars in this regard, he hoped.
It may be mentioned that 30 scientists from USA, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Pakistan, and Nepal are participating in the conference.
