The University of Dhaka (DU) is proud to announce the successful validation of the Bangla version of the General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12), a critical tool for assessing mental health in Bangladesh. This research, conducted by a team of experts from the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, represents a significant advancement in the field of mental health assessment within the Bengali-speaking population.
The GHQ-12 is designed to identify common mental health disorders and has been widely utilized globally. However, until now, its psychometric properties in Bangla had not been thoroughly examined. The study involved 788 participants, including clinical outpatients and nonclinical university students, and utilized advanced statistical methods to confirm the scale's reliability and validity.
The research has recently been published in the Psychological Test Adaptation and Development Journal.
