A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University (DU) and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) was signed today August 20, 2025 at the VC’s meeting room to improve health care facilities at the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present on this occasion as chief guest.
Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Coordinator of TIKA Muhammed Ali Armagan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective side.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Md. Selim Reza and Heads of different offices were present on the occasion.
According to the MoU, TIKA will provide technical and financial support to DU for renovation of the Shahid Buddhijibe Dr. Muhammad Mortaza Medical Centre, installation of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to enhance advanced research capabilities and installation of modern medical equipment to improve diagnostic and therapeutic services. Besides, TIKA will provide a modern, fully-equipped ambulance to improve emergency medical response and patient transport.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the TIKA authorities for providing financial and technical support to improve health care facilities at Dhaka University. Students, teachers, officers and employees will be highly benefited by this initiatives, he hoped. DU Vice-Chancellor said, the historical friendship between Bangladesh and Turkey has been prevailing for long years. These friendly ties between the two countries will be strengthened further through this renovation work, he hoped. He stressed the need for undertaking more joint collaborative academic and research programs among Dhaka University and various universities in Turkey.
