A day-long workshop on ‘Preventing Gender-Based Violence in University Campuses: Developing A Holistic Approach’ was held today November 04, 2025 at British Council auditorium. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed inaugurated the workshop as chief guest. DU Women and Gender Studies Department organized this event in cooperation with UGC and World Bank.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Taiabur Rahman and Chairperson of the Department of Women and Gender Studies Dr. Sabiha Yeasmin Rosy addressed the inaugural session. ASPM of CI Project Prof. Dr. Tania Haque delivered welcome speech while SPM of CI Project Prof. Dr. Sayed Saikh Imtiaz gave vote of thanks. ASMP of CI project Associate Prof. Dr. Ishrat Jahan Khan conducted the program.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed stressed the need for creating awareness among the teachers and students on gender-based violence to make DU campus free from sexual assault and harassment. He urged the teachers and students to work together for creating social awareness in this regard. He emphasized on arranging seminar, symposium and workshop on gender-based violence and mental health regularly at different departments and institutions of DU.
