Mr. Mehmet Turan, President of IDDEF, a non-profit Islamic Organization based in Istanbul, Turkey called on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today November 28, 2025 at his residential office of the university. He was accompanied by Mr. Salahuddin Ceylan, International Coordinator for IDDEF.

Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Prof. Saifuddin Ahmed, Associate Professor of World Religion and Culture Department Dr. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Architect of this project, officials from DU and IDDEF were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed the overall progress of a development project to rebuild the Central Mosque Complex at Dhaka University. It may be mentioned that the new mosque complex will feature modern facilities along with provisions for education and research. A digital survey of this project has already been completed. Final design of the mosque are now underway and construction will begin soon after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between DU and IDDEF.
