Discusses about strengthening academic collaboration
The Ambassador of Lithuania in India Ms. Diana Mickeviciene paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today August 17, 2026 at the latter’s office of the university. She was accompanied by Mr. Lukas Kisielius, Deputy Head of Mission of the same embassy.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs on solar-technology, bio-technology, ICT and physics among Dhaka University and different European universities including Lithuania.
They also discussed the possibilities of introducing dual degree programs as well as undertaking faculty and students exchanges programs among Dhaka University and different universities in Lithuania. They agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam thanked the Lithuanian envoy for her visit to Dhaka University and expressed his willingness to work together for creating more learning opportunities for youth. He also apprised the guest of a brief history of Dhaka University and its academic and research activities. He stressed the need for strengthening bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Lithuania through education and research as well as knowledge sharing. He also emphasized on undertaking lab to lab programs to strengthen research collaboration between the two countries effectively. He sought cooperation from the Ambassador in providing scholarship for DU students to pursue higher study in different universities in Lithuania.
