The Institute of Applied Statistics and Data Science (IASDS), University of Dhaka, hosted its Freshers’ Reception and Farewell Ceremony 2026 on 12 August 2026 at the TSC Auditorium, warmly welcoming the newly admitted 32nd batch and bidding farewell to the graduating 27th batch.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and was presided over by Professor Dr. Jahida Gulshan, Director of IASDS. Faculty members, students, staff, and guardians joined the occasion to celebrate the beginning of a new academic journey for the freshers and to honour the graduating students as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
The program was organized by the 31st batch of IASDS, whose enthusiastic efforts made the event lively and memorable. The formal session featured a warm reception for the incoming students and a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing batch, reflecting on their journey, contributions, and memories at the Institute.
The celebration continued with a vibrant cultural program featuring music, dance, short plays, debate parodies, creative ramp walks, and a rock band performance. The diverse performances showcased the creativity and talents of IASDS students and added colour and energy to the occasion.
Beyond the formalities and performances, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for students, teachers, and staff to come together and strengthen the bonds within the IASDS community. Dressed in colourful panjabis and sarees, students shared conversations, laughter, photographs, music, and memorable moments throughout the day.
The program concluded on a joyful and nostalgic note, marking both a new beginning for the 32nd batch and a fond farewell to the 27th batch. It was a memorable celebration of friendship, achievement, and the enduring spirit of the IASDS community, with best wishes extended to the graduating students for success in their future endeavours.
