Dr. Felix Gerdes, Resident Representative of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh, a private German non-profit organization paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today July 22, 2026 at the latters office of the university. He was accompanied by Shadhan Kumar Das, Program Advisor of FES.

During the meeting they stressed the need for strengthening bilateral relationship among Dhaka University and different universities in German through academic and research collaboration. They discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs in the fields of climate change, labour rights, capacity building, democratic policy and values between Dhaka University and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) German.

They emphasized on creating new knowledge and disseminating it to the young generation through research, publication and dialogue for making a knowledge-based and developed society.

FES Resident Representative expressed his willingness to work with Dhaka University in conducting research and publishing research papers jointly to promote democratic values in the society.  

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam thanked the guest for his visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities.
