A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and Dhaka DocLab, was signed today October 14, 2026 at VC’s meeting room of the university for strengthening engagement between professional media practices and academic training. Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Director of Dhaka DocLab Tareq Ahmed signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution.

Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of DU Prof. Kazi Mohammad Mahbobor Rahman and Chairperson of the Department of Television, Film and Photography Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem were present on this occasion.

The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for sustained cooperation between DU Television, Film and Photography Department and Dhaka DocLab in order to strengthen engagement between professional media practices and academic training; enhance practical learning, professional exposure, and creative opportunities for students; facilitate knowledge exchange between academics, filmmakers, industry professionals, and students; develop and implement workshops, laboratories, master-classes, short professional programmes, and other capacity-building initiatives in documentary, non-fiction and related areas of audiovisual practice; support research, skills development, mentorship, and professional networking in television, film, photography, and related creative industries; create opportunities for students and emerging practitioners to engage with national and international professionals; and encourage other mutually beneficial initiatives that contribute to the development of audiovisual education and professional practice in Bangladesh.
