The Faculty of Law of Dhaka University hosted a distinguished delegation from the Faculty of Law of Yunnan University, China for a special guest lecture titled "Rule and Exception" today 16 October 2026 at Law Department Conference Room.

The programme commenced with introductory remarks by Professor Tong Zhou, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Yunnan University. Visiting scholars Dr. Min Liu and Dr. Xin Wang delivered keynote presentations examining sovereign prerogative in Lockean philosophy and customary order within Yunnan’s local legal practice, respectively. Contributing further comparative insights, Yunnan University faculty members, Professor Changfa Zhou, Professor Zhonglong Zhao, and Associate Professor Long Cheng addressed contemporary developments in investment law, banking and financial regulations, and Chinese criminal procedure.

Welcoming the delegation, Professor Dr. Mohammad Towhidul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Law of Dhaka University emphasized on engagement lays the groundwork for fruitful academic collaboration and institutional exchange.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Professor Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Dhaka University.  He expressed confidence that the dialogue would initiate bilateral visits and joint academic pursuits for both faculty and students of the two institutions. The programme was moderated by Ali Mashraf, Lecturer of DU Law Department.
