On the afternoon of February 27, 2024, the first plenary meeting of the Center for China Studies at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, was held online. Prof. Dr. Chen Dongxiao, President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), and Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal, Chancellor of Dhaka University, Bangladesh, delivered opening speeches for the meeting.
Leaders from SIIS, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, East China Normal University, Tongji University, Yunnan University, University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh, and Noakhali University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh attended the meeting and discussed the Action Plan for 2024 and Center Charter, particularly the preparations for the launching ceremony of the Center for China Studies scheduled for March 24-27. Other participants included Prof. Dr. Li Kaisheng, Vice President of SIIS; Mr. Liang Lei, Director of the Liaison and Coordination Division at the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government; Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Director of Foreign Affairs Office at University of Dhaka; Dr. Liu Zongyi, Secretary-General of China and South Asia Center at SIIS, etc.
