On June 3, 2024, the Bangladesh Young Leaders Delegation to China, organized by the Centre for China Studies (CCS), visited Yunnan University (YNU) for academic exchanges. This visit marked the first stop of the delegation's trip in China. Professor Duan Xingwu, Vice President of YNU, warmly welcomed the delegation for exchanges & survey and introduced YNU's development history, as well as its historical connections and current collaborations with Bangladeshi universities. He expressed expectations that YNU would strengthen cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Bangladesh, enhance mutual understanding between their peoples and make new contributions to the development of educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Dr. Li Hongmei, Executive Deputy Director of CCS, introduced the delegation members. The delegation leader, Associate Professor MD Mizanur Rahaman, thanked CCS for organizing the visit and YNU for their enthusiastic reception. He stated that the delegation members would use this opportunity to understand China's development achievements in various aspects and make their own contributions to the friendly relations between China and Bangladesh.
The introduction session was followed by a series of seminars. Professor Li Peng from the School of Business and Tourism Management at YNU delivered a presentation entitled Biodiversity and Ecotourism Development in Yunnan, talking about the status quo of biodiversity and the foundation for ecotourism development in Yunnan, together with relevant case studies. Associate Professor Zhou Guanqi from the School of Economics at YNU gave a lecture on Digital Economy and Digital Trade Cooperation Facing South and Southeast Asia, systematically elaborating on the current status of digital economy development in Asia, such as the competitive landscape of e-commerce, and experiences & achievements of Yunnan Province in the development of digital economy.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Liu Peng, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at YNU. Other attendees from YNU included Associate Professor Chen Xin from the School of International Chinese language Education, Zou Yingmeng, Director of the Institute for Bangladesh Studies at the Institute of International Relations, Dr. Zhou Weiwei from the School of Ethnology and Sociology, Ms. Gan Chuqi, Director of the Bengali Language Teaching and Research Section at the School of Foreign Languages, and Bi Yuanyuan, Program Coordinator of the Confucius Institute Office at the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. The delegation members engaged in active discussions with experts and scholars from YNU on balancing digital development and employment, the dual aspects of technological development, etc. After the meeting, the delegation toured the YNU campus to learn about its history and development.
