'MGI-MAA Scholarship 2026' handover program held at DU
DHAKA, Sep 23, 2026 – The Department of Marketing at the University of Dhaka has distributed Tk 21.60 lakh in scholarships to 90 meritorious students across various academic batches.
Each selected student received a stipend of Tk 24,000 under the "MGI-MAA Scholarship" program. The scholarship cheques were handed over by the Chief Guest, Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon, during a ceremony held today at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium.
The program was jointly organized by the Dhaka University Marketing Alumni Association (MAA) and the Meghna Group of Industries (MGI). The scholarship program is sustainably funded by the interest yields of a Tk 1 crore permanent endowment fund co-established by both organizations.
Call for Academic-Industry Collaborations
Speaking as the Chief Patron, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam urged corporate bodies and alumni networks to aggressively fund higher education and research. He highlighted the creation of the permanent Tk 1 crore fund for the Marketing Department as a prime model and proposed building a centralized university endowment fund to ensure financial security for all underprivileged, high-achieving students.
Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon emphasized the critical need for bridging the gap between industry requirements and academic curricula. He noted that corporate partnerships in training and research are vital to transforming the youth population into skilled human resources proficient in modern technologies.
